Ganley Foundation Crosses the Finish Line at the ING New York City Marathon

Ganley Foundation Sign on 86th Street
Thanks to everyone who came out to support this year's Marathon Team!

On Sunday, November 6, the Ganley Foundation crossed the finish line for the third consecutive year at the annual ING New York City Marathon. Our participation in this extraordinary event began in 2009 when Laura Ganley courageously ran in memory of her brother Jimmy. Since joining the ING Community Charity Program in 2010, fifteen individuals have now run on behalf of the Ganley Foundation and we are incredibly proud of each of them.

This year's big weekend finally arrived after months of arduous training by our 2011 Marathon Team. On Saturday, November 5, we held a Pre-Marathon Pasta Lunch to welcome our runners and supporters. There was a palpabale buzz in the air as the team began final preparations for Sunday's main event.

Race conditions could not have been better as the team was greeted at the starting line by sunny skies and an afternoon High of 50 degrees (a perfect temperature for running a marathon). Several dozen Ganley Foundation supporters braved the large crowds (and NYC traffic!) to come cheer them on.

We are proud to announce that
each of this year's team members successfully completed the 26.2-mile journey! To celebrate this special achievement, the Ganley Foundation hosted a Post-Marathon Party for our champions following their finish. Please visit our Photo Gallery to see more images from the event.

Congratulations to this year's Ganley Foundation Marathon Team:

  • Ann Ganley
  • Laura Ganley
  • Douglas McGowan
  • Jeff Munafo
  • Louis Echevarria.

Great achievements do not come without great effort, faith, and support. Completing the New York City marathon is a great achievement and we thank everyone who participated this year for making it such a success.
